It Takes a Village to Raise a Child
What do you do?
We serve all members, both on-reserve and off: children, young people, adults, parents and caregivers. We help people of all ages to heal their trauma, enjoy healthy relationships, and build a clear path for the future.
We provide help and advocacy in all ways, and create positive change through Indigenous knowledge, laws, traditions and beliefs. Our holistic support is guided by wisdom from Elders and input from family members.
Much of our work is helping families dealing with Child and Family Services (CFS), and those who are at risk, and those in reunification. We believe the best place for your child is with you, here in our community, with friends and community leaders to support them.
Why do I need Asubpeeschoseewagong Aankaanotamage’win?
Dealing with CFS can be scary and confusing. We’ll explain how the system works, and help you deal with it. Our goal is to get your family back together, and to ensure everyone is healthy and safe.
This can be a long, difficult journey, but we are a safe space.
How does it work?
We approach each client with an open heart to determine what all family members need for their holistic health. We can set you up with support for your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness, within our community, and outside if necessary.
We could:
- assist with paperwork, transportation & food security
- advocate for you in meetings with CFS, EIA, housing, schools, etc.
- discuss birth alerts, kinship care, legal aid, visits & orders
- refer you to other organizations for support & therapy
- connect you with Elders, experts, friends & resources
- teach you parenting & life skills
- give you strength & grounding through traditional ceremonies
- help you feel less alone
