Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation proudly hosted the 40th Annual Grassy Narrows Powwow from August 15–17, bringing together community members and visitors for three days of vibrant cultural celebration. The Host Drum was the Grassy Narrows Singers, with Brown Eagle as Co-Host Drum and Blue Hill as an invited guest. Master of Ceremonies Jan Greenfeather (K.A.S.P.) kept the energy high throughout the gathering, while Arena Director Ron P. McDonald guided the flow of events.
Highlights included the Princess and Brave Pageant on Friday night, sponsored by Grassy Narrows Child and Family Advocates, which shone a spotlight on youth and their role in carrying forward tradition. A community breakfast was also served on both Saturday and Sunday, adding to the spirit of sharing and togetherness.
With powerful drum groups, captivating dancers in regalia, and a warm invitation extended to all, the powwow was a living expression of resilience, tradition, and unity. Open to everyone, the event showcased the strength of culture and the pride of the Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation, ensuring this milestone celebration will be remembered for years to come.
